Physiotheraphy students
Learn-AT is excited to welcome six second year physiotherapy students from Coventry University for a six-week placement in three of its primary schools.
Based in Foundation Stage, the students will be observing the physical development of the schools’ youngest children and then will work with individual children who would benefit from additional support. The students, who are all fully DBS checked, will be mentored by a member of the school’s team during their placement.
Stef Edwards, Learn-AT Trust Leader said “This partnership with University of Coventry is such an exciting opportunity. We have already hosted Occupational Therapy students and now physiotherapy students. Their specialist expertise and enthusiasm helps us to support children’s physical development in new ways. We are all delighted about it and hope that the partnership will continue and lead to other opportunities to bring health and education disciplines together for the benefit of our children in the future.”
Student Georgia Wilson, based at Blaby Stokes CE Primary School, said, “All of the teachers are very welcoming. They’re great with the students and their constant positive attitudes make a good work environment and learning environment for the children. This experience has helped me to understand Paediatrics and child development as a physio and also the extra factors both academically and socially that impact development. The teachers are good at noticing these and putting extra measures in place to help.”
