Learn Academies Trust

CEO Appointment

Learn-AT is pleased to announce that it has appointed Jane Jones as its new Chief Executive Officer. Jane will join Learn-AT at Easter 2024, following the retirement of Stef Edwards, the founding Trust Leader.

Jane Jones, a Cambridge University Law graduate, enjoyed a successful 18 year career in law, in both the public and private sectors, before moving into the education sector six years ago when she took up post as CEO of an independent day and boarding school for pupils aged 3-13. Jane led on transformational change and a substantial programme of whole school improvement. She later initiated a successful merger with two other schools to form an all-through schools group, ages 3-18, in which she sat on the executive team. More recently, and with a firm desire to move back into the public sector, she successfully completed the National Professional Qualification in Executive Leadership at the Institute of Education, University College London. Jane is passionate about children's education and well-being. She aims to work supportively and collaboratively with the Trust's senior leaders to ensure that pupils’ primary school experience is positive, nurturing and inclusive, challenging and supporting them to realise their individual potential and to pursue opportunities, now and in future, with confidence, courage and optimism.

Jeremy Benson, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Learn-AT, said, 'We are delighted that Jane is joining us as Learn-AT’s new CEO. She brings a wealth of experience that will help the Trust to deliver on our commitment to an excellent education for the children in our schools, in line with our values. As Learn-AT grows and develops, we are looking forward to Jane working with and supporting our leaders across the Trust to help pupils to flourish and colleagues to thrive.'

Jane Jones said, 'I am thrilled and honoured to have been selected to take up post as Learn-AT's next CEO. It is a unique Trust specialising in supporting a growing group of Leicestershire primary schools to be, individually and collectively, the best that they can be for the benefit of their pupils, dedicated school teams and wider local communities, putting learning and fellowship at the heart. The Trust is also fortunate to have such a distinguished and multi-disciplined Board of Trustees overseeing its strategic direction. I am looking forward to continuing the excellent work of founding Trust Leader, Stef Edwards, as Learn-AT moves forward into its next chapter and I cannot wait to meet many more members of the Trust community when I start in April.'
