Word Study Spelling
Teach Spelling using Word Study.
Our programme looks at the research behind the teaching of spelling and will show you how you can use this to support children’s learning. In Word Study lessons, pupils are taught skills which enable them to learn how to learn about spelling, rather than remembering lists. They are then supported in using the words they’ve learned to spell in a variety of contexts, providing vocabulary enrichment activities and developing skills which complement reading, writing and grammar teaching.
We share a detailed programme of study to follow and will give you plans and resources for teaching. There will be lots of opportunity to work collaboratively with others, sharing ideas to make the teaching of spelling work in a practical way in your own classroom. More details to follow.
This course is run by Dynamis and is based on nationally recognised vocational qualifications in physical intervention and restraint.
At the end of the Dynamis Positive Handling course, staff will be able to:
Understand the Context of Positive Handling in schools, describe difficult, distressed and dangerous behaviour with clarity, understand the legal principles regarding physical interventions, understand when physical interventions may be required (Duty of Care), explain what the DfE guidance states about using reasonable force, understand how to minimise the risks when/if physical interventions are used, and carry out safer holding and physical intervention procedures.
Meet with colleagues to find out what to expect from the moderation process and discuss how best to prepare. More details to follow.
An opportunity to work with other Year 2 teachers to look at samples of work against the Teacher Assessment Frameworks for year 2 and to discuss ways in which you can work with children to support them in making progress and embedding skills that will help meet the moderation criteria. Please bear in mind that final moderation judgements can't be made at these meetings because we will only be looking at a small sample of writing. More details to follow.
An opportunity to work with other Year 6 teachers to look at samples of work against the Teacher Assessment Frameworks for year 6 and to discuss ways in which you can work with children to support them in making progress and embedding skills that will help meet the moderation criteria.
