RIPPLE and Lesson Study
At all levels and in all spheres of operation, the Trust promotes a culture of collaborative, research-informed professional learning and the use of evidence (RIPPLE). We use Research Lesson Study and research-informed, incremental coaching to support continuous improvement in the quality of teaching and learning. We encourage evidence-based teaching and an inquiry-orientated approach to school-improvement planning.
We promote a distributed model of leadership to build sustainable leadership capacity, professional capital and expertise at all levels and from school improvement to operations. Now with Learn Academies Trust Institute of Education, we encourage and promote high-quality, research-informed initial teacher education, strong professional learning communities in and across our schools, including post-graduate and professional study, leadership development, membership of professional organisations and networks such as the Chartered College of Teaching, Leadership Matters and Whole Education.
All Learn Academies Trust staff have access to a range of professional learning courses, programmes and networks, organised by the Institute of Education. These are planned to meet the criteria set out in the National Standards for Teachers' Professional Development and include:
- Termly Phase and Faculty meetings with other Trust schools
- Research Informed Practice, Professional Learning and use of Evidence (RIPPLE) Network meetings
- Sounds Write Phonics training
- A two-year Early Career Training Programme for NQTs
