Learn-AT UpdATe

13 October 2023

It's been a fantastic half-term here at Learn-AT, which started with our Annual Conference in August, where it was great to see so many colleagues come together in one place. Inspiring workshops and talks by motivational speakers were on offer throughout the day, along with the chance to chat and catch up with old and new friends.

We have also been delighted to welcome Bottesford CE Primary School, Thrussington CE Primary School and Queniborough CE Primary School to our Trust, taking the total number of member schools to fourteen. This is an exciting time of growth for our trust, and we are looking forward to building on the relationships we have formed, and collaborating collectively, continuously striving to provide outstanding learning and fellowship for our children and staff.

Across the trust there have been a number of role changes that we would like to announce. Alan Eathorne is now Co-Executive Headteacher across four small schools and will be the Research Lead for the trust, heading up Learn-AT Research Hub. Sian Ellis and Tamsyn Williams have taken on the additional responsibility of Lead Mentors for the Learn-AT Professional ITT Programme. Also Susie Murtagh has moved into the role of Trust Communication and Marketing Manager alongside her work with Learn-AT Professional.

You will have also seen the announcement today that Trust Leader Stef Edwards will be retiring in March 2024. Whilst she will still be here for a few more months, we know you will all extend your best wishes to Stef as she looks forward to this next chapter.

As we approach the end of the first half-term, here at Learn-AT Professional we wanted to thank you for all of your continued support, and let you know about all the exciting things we have coming up.

We are delighted to assume our role as Associate College for the NIoT, delivering programmes across the region to support ongoing teacher development. We are keen to ensure that our programmes capture, exemplify and share the lived experience of teachers and leaders, and a significant strength of this partnership with the NIoT will be providing the opportunity for participants to build and share knowledge in a way that is respectful to their time, and above all, develops them as teachers and leaders to effectively serve the pupils in their schools.

Our current Initial Teacher Training students are all settling in well to their school placements and applications are now open for next year's intake. We will be holding an Open Event in the coming weeks, so look out for more details soon and please come along if you want to find out more.

We are also really excited to launch the brand new Learn-AT Professional Research School Hub, which will continue to work in partnership with KYRA Research School and deliver fantastic CPD throughout the year.
