The University of Leicester is an Outstanding (Ofsted 2016) Teacher Training Provider and is amongst the top Universities in the world. Our partnership with them enable us to deliver high-quality PGCE study coupled with practical experience in our diverse Trust schools. This unique combination results in a greater supply of well-trained, appropriately qualified, and inspiring teachers.

The University provide a rigorous and stimulating academic accompaniment to our practical teaching placements and training.

The ITT PGCE Primary course will prepare you to teach across the full range of the Primary Curriculum. The University will introduce you to the wider context of teaching, including responding to diversity in school and the inclusion of Special Needs Education, as well as equipping you with classroom management and planning skills.

By the end of the course you will meet the required professional stands for Qualified Teachers Status (QTS), and will be awarded a University of Leicester PGCE. Their strong ethos of reflective practice will prepare you for your future career in teaching.

You will be allocated a highly experienced and supportive personal tutor to guide you through what will be an exciting and challenging year. This responsibility will be shared with your ITT leader at Learn-AT Professional.

As an Associate College of the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), we are delighted to deliver teacher training in partnership with them, and as your local provider, you also have the benefit of local expertise and context. The NIoT teacher training offers an all-encompassing, school-centred programme for aspiring teachers. From day one, you'll be in the classroom, experiencing hands-on learning. However, don't worry about being overwhelmed – our trainees receive weekly mentoring and centralised training.

You can also rest assured that you're participating in a programme designed by some of the most skilled teachers and leaders in the country, who have years of experience in teacher training. We know precisely what headteachers look for in new teachers, and we'll help you develop the skills you need to find an Early Career Teacher role.

As part of a national cohort,  you will belong to a network of like-minded individuals across the country. However your training and placements will take place at our schools across Leicestershire so you're never too far away from home.

NIoT works in partnership with the University of Birmingham which is the validating university and has responsibility for awarding the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) element of the programme.
